Dear Readers, Thank you for subscribing to The Spark.
My name is Casey Hersch. I am a licensed clinical social worker and founder of LightYourSparkle.Life. As many of you know, I live with autoimmune

Today I Rise
The past year we focused a lot on our physical immunity, but our mental immunity might be even more important. Our thoughts are at the front and center of our physical immunity. When the world feels uncertain, I must be mindful of what I say to myself. I have to be even more mindful of what I say and think about others---especially people with whom I don't agree. I can lose my empathy and kindness and replace those virtues with judgment and anger. As the world reopens, I strive to reintegrate with newfound mental immunity.
How Are You Resilient?
For eight years, these hawks have lived in the redwood tree in my front yard. I was completely unaware until one day, I looked up to the sky and there they were---watching over me all along. I started thinking about this past year and the many things I have risen to overcome. Today I rise above my judgments and embrace MY life and how I choose to live. Today I rise above this past year drawing from all the strengths I used in 2020 to get me through.
Did you know we can calm our nervous systems by listening to specific sound frequencies? Most of us focus on how to change our thoughts to reduce stress, but oftentimes the body needs to be actively involved. Since most of us like to listen to music, is it easy to incorporate binaural beats into our lives. Of course, check with your physician first, but one way to increase mental immunity is to explore new ways to ground ourselves amidst the chaos. Dr. Elizabeth Krasnoff explains Binaural Beats and how ten minutes can make a difference in our health. Listen to her interview below
