My name is Casey Hersch. I am a licensed clinical social worker and founder of LightYourSparkle.Life. As many of you know, I live with autoimmune illnesses and have a history of childhood trauma, which are my inspirations for the Light Your Sparkle community.
Sometimes it is difficult to feel thankful, especially as I pursue how to heal from the inside out, and in the midst of ongoing stress. However, as I recently traveled through the Sierra Nevadas to visit with yet another 'expert' - who I hoped would have solutions for my next level of healing - I focused on the beauty around me. As the miles rolled by, I became increasingly aware that the greatest source of healing in my life this past year has come from the ever-growing Light Your Sparkle community. Your presence in my life has made a world of difference to me. I want you to know that I am extremely grateful...grateful beyond the formality of a scheduled holiday. Our bodies are our best resources for coping with stress, reminding us of who we are and where we want to go.
I learned about a simple technique called Tapping from the Light Your Sparkle community. Now I tap regularly to calm myself and to manage my thoughts and goals during stressful times. I encourage you to try Tapping and experience its benefits for yourself.
Right before the pandemic, Pawso and Samba galloped their way into my life. They infinitely bless me and teach me how to cope with tough times. With them, sheltering at home isn't so bad. This year, LightYourSparkle has been embraced by numerous 'cat' communities who have welcomed me with open 'paws.' I highly recommend adding a new family member to your life or helping locally by fostering a furry friend.
