Dear Friends, Thank you for subscribing to The Spark.
My name is Casey Hersch. I am a licensed clinical social worker and founder of LightYourSparkle.Life. As many of you know, I live with autoimmune illnesses and have a history of childhood trauma, which are my inspirations for the Light Your Sparkle community.
The year 2020 has certainly been full of ups and downs. We have come face-to-face with our mortality and values around work/home life, socialization, and community. Now more than ever we are in global, community, and intrapersonal transition as we reflect on our priorities and how we can thrive in a changing world. This state of flux leaves us uneasy and anxious. Yet peace is within grasp when we remember even though we cannot always control what is happening around us, we are still in charge of what is happening 'inside' of us. Let's kick-off our New Year's Resolutions with mindful reflection:
What brings you the most joy and how are you going to do more of that?
What is one change you could make in your lifestyle that would give you more peace?
How can you deeply improve your relationship with yourself this year?
What body part needs more attention and loving care?
What would you be willing to try outside of your comfort zone to increase your health?
If you were not scared what would you do?
Letting Go Of 2020
Let's guide our nervous system toward calm, ease, and resilience together!
Whether it is the pandemic, politics, finances, social injustices, or personal challenges, collectively, we experienced a year of universal traumas. When there is trauma, believing that the future is bright or holding hope for change can be difficult. Sometimes we stay stuck in fear and uncertainty because moving forward means we might face another trauma or disappointment.
One of my new years resolutions is to join a FREE Finding Calm online energy and sound healing group. This is my opportunity to have more calm in my life, help my body find balance, clarify and reach my goals, and to teach my brain that I can cope and even find peace amid chaos.
I don't like the unknown---I want to know what is behind every door I open. This year one of my resolutions is to try new things. I never considered myself a baker, and my diet has been the same for years. When I enter the kitchen, blaring smoke alarms usually follow. However, recently I discovered a gluten-free flour that has given my baking potential a dash of hope. I even baked my first batch of gluten-free chocolate chip cookies and they were tasty!
Before I even set foot into the new year I am preparing my mind with positive thoughts. I am imagining all the possibilies and allowing my hopes, wishes, and dreams to permeate my mind, body, and spirit. When I need help strengthening my mental immunity, I refer back to one of my favorite books....
